Lord Elgin Model 4610A open frame lugs

Lord Elgin 5869

Excellent all 14kt yellow gold filled case measures 21mm wide not including crown, by 37mm long lug to lug. Excellent refinished dial. Replacement crystal and crown. 21 jewel grade 559 movement sets and winds perfectly. Watch keeps time to within 2 min/day, but not known when last serviced. Used but serviceable 16mm black leather band. The 4610A was a watch design ahead of its time. Introduced in the 1942 catalog, it was quickly withdrawn from sale at the start of WWII, and then re-introduced after the war in 1946 and was offered for several years after that. The "E" prefix on the movement serial number indicates the movement was made for watches in the '42 catalog, so this was part of the first batch. The watch was originally priced at $62.50 retail in the '42 catalog, about $1,000 in today's money. A smart looking watch.
